Located at Mt. Mayon and Camus St., is the Sampaguita Tourist Inn New, because the old building is just a few blocks away.
Perfect for a budget consicious travelers. A few weeks earlier we booked for both Sampaguita Inn - old and new, however bookings are only accepted at the old building since the new Sampaguita Inn only accepts walk-in guests.
Straight from the airport we decided to walk-in at Sampaguita Inn New, unluckily there are already guests waiting for check-outs by 12NN, I think we're 3rd on the list. Earlier we had an early flight so we arrived at Sampaguita new 30mins past the hour of 10. And there's no guarantee that there will be check-outs by 12NN.
My hubby decided that we check out the Sampaguita Old since we already have reservation. We just walked going to the old buildiing since it's just a stone away from the new one.
We approached the front desk, unfortunately the front desk attendant was so cold. She hurriedly say "wala pa pong nag che-check-in, mamaya pang 12.." eventhough I already told her that we have a reservation, but I didnt get a beautiful response, until I approached suppose to be a senior attendent, I said that I have reservations for this day up to this day, annd she acknowledges, look for my name on the list and advised her staff that if there are early check-out, we will be the priority. (because there are also walk-in guests who are waiting)
So much more to say sana, but I think that front desk attendant is not that entertaining to the guest of the Inn.
We just had our lunch while waiting in the hotel's canteen.
Rating: 1 lowest; 5- highest
Accomodation - facilities, room, beddings, toilet and bath - 3
comments: Towels - you need to deposit a P150 for those towel (weird) and P100 for remote control for TV.
Toilet & Bath - eventhough they clean the rooms after each guests, the room assigned to us, the sink was stuck with water, two room attendants have to fixed it first but we are already in the room.
Service - 2
Comments: 2 of the 5 lady attendants are snob. They didnt also know any directions and how to get there using public vehicle like going to malls (SM, GMALL and even church).
Housekeeping are quiet late eventhough I already buzz a couple of times.
Beddings - torn bedsheet. Only one pillow/bed/person - extra pillow P50 each...whew!!!
Toiletries - 1 size of a thumb finger super thin soap - for 5 days (ahahahha). A half roll of tissue (since they split the whole roll of tissue into 2.
Canteen - free hot water 24hrs; Water for drinking came from the faucet.
Meals are quiet affordable but the tapsis - ranges from 70-85 pesos
Accessibility - 4
comments: most of the public jeepney drivers, taxi drivers and standby-ers, know the Sampaguita Inn.
but with Davao which is the largest city, there are points that there's no public jeepney route heading to Sampaguita Inn (e.g. in R. Magsaysay Park vicinity no PUJs going to Quirino St.)
Within the vicinity:
MALL - Gaisano G.Mall, Gaisano Citi-Mall, Victoria Mall, NCCC Mall about 20mins to SM City Davao
Park - Davao City's People's Park
Hotels / Inn - Tower Inn, First Pacific Inn, Green Windows, Sampaguita Tourist Inn - New
Casa Leticia
Restaurants: Penongs, Banoks, Crepelato, Pards, Tsuku, Glamour Crab Buffet, BBQ Boss
Other establishment: Davao Central Convenience Store, Rose Pharmacy at FTC Tower, Tower Gold Yema Candy Pasalubong Center (along Quirino St.), Zen Japanese Spa
Furniture / Room - 2
comments: No cabinets, hangers for clothes. No electric socket for charging. Only one socket/plug, in order for us to charge (cellphone, laptop, digital cameras) we need to turn off the TV and charge.
Safety Deposit Box - 1
comments: No safety deposit boxes, but they have a check-in or baggage counter for valuables.
Security - 4
comments:A 24 hour guard on duty at hotels lobby.
If you'll be walking from National Road up to the Inn - there are a few homesteaders standby outside the street with dogs walking around also.
